How Filter Change Photos Helped a Restaurant Improve Its Replacement Routine

A review of photographs sent during a routine filter change helped Guardian Filters identify that an anonymous restaurant needed to replace its filters sooner. Working together, we agreed a schedule suited to the kitchen’s cooking demands, with ongoing photo checks to support the team.

The Challenge

The restaurant was already using Guardian Filters and sent us photographs of its extraction system during a filter change.

When we reviewed the images, we noticed that the filters were heavily saturated with grease. The grey streaks were no longer visible, indicating that the restaurant was leaving the filters in place too long before replacing them.

The photographs gave us an opportunity to flag this with the team and help them adjust their routine.

A Schedule Built Around the Kitchen

We discussed the findings with the restaurant to understand how the kitchen operated, including its cooking volume, grease output, cooking methods and operating hours.

Using this information alongside the condition shown in the photographs, we worked with the team to create a more suitable filter change schedule.

This gave staff a clearer routine based on the demands of their kitchen, supported by visual checks of the filters at each change.

Ongoing Checks and Support

The restaurant continues to send us photographs at every filter change. This allows us to review the condition of the filters and check that the replacement schedule remains appropriate.

The images now show that the restaurant is changing its filters at the right stage, before they reach the heavily saturated condition we first identified.

Keeping this communication open also gives the team an easy way to raise questions and allows us to discuss adjustments if cooking demands change.

Why Sending Photographs Matters

In this case, a simple set of photographs revealed an issue that might otherwise have continued unnoticed.

Sharing images helps Guardian Filters understand how filters are being used in practice and offer advice based on the conditions in each kitchen. It also helps restaurant teams build confidence in their filter change routine, with ongoing support as their needs develop.
